Times Square is one of the loudest places in New York City with honking horns, screaming sirens that could reach up to 120 decibels, but in the life after people, Times Square is shrouded by permanent silence.
1 day after people: The beating heart of New York in still beating due to the power grid having not failed yet (with the fossil fuels still in the tanks burning), giving power every hour.
2 days after people: The New York City power grid fails due to the fossil fuels finishing burning. The beating heart of New York now takes its final beat. Then, Times Square is plunged into permanent darkness. However, the Ricoh sign, powered by wind and solar panels, remains a light in the darkness.
45 years after people: A gas explosion hits the base of One Times Square, now the tower is weakened.
100 years after people: Lions begin to roam the streets.
150 years after people: 150 years without humans has taken its toll on the main tower; a 4-screen tower of glass and metal called One Times Square. The glass cracking echos through the square.Then the metal skeleton collapses straight into the ground. But the streets and a bunch of buildings still stand.
2,000 years after people: Times Square has changed completely and is now unrecognizable, Times Square has become a meadow with trees and a river flowing through it.
