The Emirates Towers is a building complex in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which consists of two towers, one taller than the other at a height of 355 meters compared to the shorter 305 meter building. They are named the Emirates Office Tower and the Jumeirah Emirates Tower Hotel respectively, which also have different floor height, explaining the little floor difference between the two. Completed in 1999, the towers are a main symbol of Dubai, which had once stood as the tallest in the city. Without people, how long will this symbol of the high-rise city stand?

1 Day After People[]

Around Dubai, the lights go out, leaving towers like the Emirates Towers in the dark, the hotel and office no longer functioning. The waterfalls as well cease to function, but the gardens and lakes stay in the hotel.

5 Years After People[]

The arid climate of Dubai is starting to take an effect on the towers, the blowing sand dirtying up the material. Inside, the 400 room hotel stands in a static state without people, but as the glass breaks, sand is let in, and the beds, electronics, and other appliances of the rooms soon deteriorate. Inside the lush gardens, without people to water them, the plants have dried up and died, while the lake has been polluted with sand.

20 Years After People[]

Windstorms in Dubai cause the spires on top of the towers to break off and fall. With the windows broken, the hotel and office rooms are partly covered in sand, while the lake inside of the tower has evaporated, leaving a sandy and empty pool. The fury of the sandstorms have also taken an effect on the towers, with the walls and material deteriorating and cracking from the battering sand. These icons of the city might not last for long as expected.

50 Years After People[]

The landmark is struggling to stand, as another sandstorm strikes Dubai. This time, the corroded supports and walls of the Emirates Office Tower bend to their breaking point, leaning the tower to its plummet. As it crumbles, the other shorter tower still stands after the storm, heavily damaged however, and on the verge of collapse as well. Soon, the floor which had the pool caves in, causing the floors to collapse in a pancake-like fashion, bringing down the other tower. The Emirates Towers, the icons of the city, have fallen in just 50 years.
